The Window Ledge

One day when I was nineteen
It was springtime
And I sat on the ledge of my dorm room window
And I inhaled the sweet air.
The trees were just beginning to blossom
Pink and white and soft and sweet.
The warm sun spoke of the oncoming summer.
I looked over the edge
Three stories from the ground
And my heart pounded
It reminded me I was alive.
And in that very real moment I knew
Life was meant to be musical.
I was meant to live I this moment forever.
